A great yarn, Lois! I like how you weaved the story of your teenage visit in platform heels with all these interesting facts about William Shakespeare. I, too, am amazed at his invention of so many words. The fact that they "stuck" and have remained with us to this day is astounding.

It is really amazing that Shakespeare created so many of the words we speak. I can’t imagine "inventing” that many words. He must have been one very incredible man! Thank you, as always, Renato, for reading my Substack and your comments are always appreciated. Best to you, my friend.

Thanks, Will - I use many of those words myself. Where would I be without them?

You would be speaking a language other than English….

Ohh, funny! Someone recently told me another fashion ordeal, but in the 80s, when big shoulders, the Norma Kamali look, were in. She's tall to begin with and getting on a bus in London, she somehow got wedged into a spot she could barely get out of, due to those HUGE shoulders. Re the Bard, I love him. And do believe he wrote his works, but that's a discussion for another day. Read a book that made me a believer in his writing his works, not the Earl or F. Drake etc. I'll have to noodle around and figure out which it was though. It's been over a year and I don't keep a list. Will try and figure it out though. It explained much about his knowledge of geography and places, thanks to the school system and Latin, and so much more. Good post!

Thanks Jeanine. It’s my understanding his group of playwrights worked with him on a couple of his plays and he was the group leader. However, he wrote plenty of them on his own.

Best wishes to you!

Wm Shakespeare was a piece of work. He had his hand in too many things. He also, along with 47 other "scribes" wrote the King James version of the bible. Not only his words, but his theology has had a major influence on modern society.

Awesome article! Never thought I'd learn so much about Will and Drake's Peruvian coke connection. Very fun and informative! Sounds like the summer of '72 was an exciting time in your life.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers

Thank, Gonzo. It’s interesting the things we can find out if we just do a bit of research.

The summer of ‘72 was an exciting time. I graduated from school a year ahead of schedule and hit the ground with my feet running!

Best to you!
